1. Less Competition for Permits and Locations
If you’re dreaming of eloping in a national park, on a mountaintop, or at another stunning location, the off-season is ideal. Popular spots are less competitive for permits and reservations, meaning you can secure the location of your dreams with far less hassle.
2. Enjoy More Privacy and Seclusion
The beauty of eloping is creating an intimate, personal experience—and the off-season takes it to another level. Parks, trails, beaches, and other scenic locations are far less crowded, giving you the space to focus on each other without interruptions. The truth is, summer and fall bring bigger crowds to mountain canyons, national parks, and most picturesque spots, making it harder to find the peace and intimacy you might want for your elopement.
3. More Vendors to Choose From
With fewer weddings happening, the off-season gives you more flexibility when it comes to booking vendors. Whether it’s a photographer, videographer, or florist, you’re more likely to find your dream team available and ready to bring your vision to life. Because I am based in Utah, my busiest months are April – October. I always am so sad when I have to turn down a lovely elopement couple because I am booked!
4. Avoid the Summer Heat
Summer heat isn’t for everyone—especially when you’re hiking to a scenic overlook or exchanging vows under the sun. I have been to many elopements where the heat is high and it makes being outside all day hard. Eloping in the off-season means you’ll skip those sweltering temperatures and enjoy cooler, more comfortable weather.
5. Embrace Stunning Winter Fashion
Winter elopements bring a whole new level of style. Think long-sleeved dresses, cozy shawls, elegant fur coats, and warm accessories. These elegant looks are perfect for capturing timeless photos in a wintry setting.
6. Travel Can Be More Affordable
If your elopement involves travel, winter can often mean cheaper flights and accommodations, depending on your destination. Off-season travel deals make it easier to turn your elopement into an unforgettable adventure without breaking the bank.
7. Magical Snowy Backdrops
If you’re heading north, snow can add an element of magic to your elopement. There’s nothing quite like exchanging vows surrounded by a glistening winter wonderland. It’s the kind of beauty that makes for unforgettable memories and incredible photos.
8. Warm Destinations with Mild Temperatures
Prefer warmer weather? The off-season is also perfect for eloping somewhere tropical or desert-like, where temperatures are far more bearable than the scorching summer months. Whether it’s a sandy beach or a red rock canyon, you’ll get to enjoy the best of both worlds. My off season months often being me to Arizona, Southern Utah, Mexico, or the Caribbean.
9. A Beautiful Day And A Wedding Video To Remember It By
Eloping is all about creating a day that’s uniquely yours, and having a videographer there to capture it is a must. From the quiet moments to the epic scenery, a video lets you relive every part of your adventure. Plus, it’s the perfect way to share your story with loved ones who couldn’t be there. Trust me—these are memories you’ll want to hold onto forever. Here is an elopement I shot during my off season! These two cuties got hitched at the Salt Flats in December. It was honestly an amazing day.
